KC Zine Con #7 is taking place in-person at the 1923 Room at Plexpod Westport Commons.
The 1923 Room is located on the lower level of the building, and is accessible by stairs or an elevator and wheelchair lift. Programming is taking place in an auxiliary meeting room located on the main level of the building, accessible by stairs or an elevator and wheelchair lift.
KC Zine Con is wheelchair accessible. Aisles between exhibitor rows are wide enough for mobility devices to navigate. There are ADA Accessible parking spaces available in the Plexpod parking lot. Plexpod is wheelchair accessible via the front west entrance. There are stairs and ramps leading to Plexpod from the parking lot.
KC Zine Con is accessible by public transit: Westport Commons is located on the 39 bus line, a short 3 minute walk from the 39th/Warwick stop.
KC Zine Con is accessible by bicycle: Plexpod Westport Commons is located on the Gillham Road bikeway, and a bike rack is located inside the Plexpod Westport Commons annex building, directly south of the parking lot. KC Zine Con will have free parking for both bicycles and cars on the day of the event.
Bathrooms with and without urinals are located inside the building.
Breastfeeding parents may utilize any space in the building.
KC Zine Con is a scent-aware, smoke-free space. While we cannot guarantee a scent-free space due to the size of the event, we ask that participants please refrain from wearing fragrances the day of the event to make our space more accessible for those with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. No vaping or smoking is allowed inside KC Zine Con or on the Plexpod Westport Commons campus.
Service Animals are welcome at the event. Pets and all other animals that are not service animals are not allowed.
In order to protect our tabling zinesters from COVID-19, we are requiring that all participants wear facemasks and remain masked while indoors. We will have free snacks (including vegan and gluten free options) for all tabling zinesters but we ask that you take your snacks outside to eat them. We will also have food trucks outside, if you would like to purchase a meal.
If you are not tabling and need a place to sit down and rest, there will be chairs located next to the entrance and in the quiet room. If you need a bag, we will have free recycled plastic bags at the welcome table.
KC Zine Con will also be accessible online as a virtual festival. Tablers who do not wish to participate in person can reserve a “virtual table” – a spot in our online listing of all participating zinesters. Additionally, we are planning on livestreaming the workshop programming, and will have auto-generated captions during the streams.
If you have any question about the accessibility of the event, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
