Zine Scouts

Hey zinesters, we’ve got some news to break!

The bad news is we won’t be having a zine fest this year. The good news is we’re putting together a great calendar of in-person and virtual events to tide you over until KC Zine Con returns in 2022!

We’re calling it Zine Scouts. As the name suggests, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills and earn merit badges (but we won’t make you sell cookies, promise!) From now until KCZC #7 (date TBA, fall 2022), we’ll be hosting a variety of in-person and virtual events, workshops, zine swaps, and get-togethers.

Here’s how it works: Print out a Zine Scouts passport mini-zine. Print and fold your passport (need help? watch the video tutorial below), then bring it with you when you attend a KCZC event. You’ll earn a stamp in your passport for every event you attend. (Even virtual ones!) Collect 7 stamps and you’ll be able to redeem your passport for a neat prize at KCZC #7!

Check out all the events coming up soon here.

Interested in partnering with KCZC to host an event? We’re putting together our event calendar, and we’d love to partner with folks in our community and beyond to host workshops, readings, and other great zine-adjacent events. Fill out this form to let us know what skills or niche interests you’d like to share with your fellow Zine Scouts. You don’t need to come to us with a fully-formed pitch (this isn’t Shark Tank!), just a general idea of what you can offer the community.

We’re also always looking for more Organizers to help shape future KC Zine Con! Organizers volunteer to meet 2 – 3 times a month to plan the fest and any additional events, and we all do a little bit of everything. Anyone can be an Organizer, so even if you’re curious, drop us a line and come to one of our meetings to see if volunteering is for you.

We hope to see you at a Zine Scouts event sometime soon!
