I create a variety of zines from short non-fiction and fiction, illustration zines, and informational. I am a printmaker, bookmaker, and zinester who combines these skills, making a range of simple printer paper zines to hand-bound informationals and chapbooks. I have co-coordinated a local zine fair for the past two years, and I often use my local Opossum Zine Distro, which will almost always have something from me inside. My work is displayed through Instagram highlights and can be purchased through DMing. CW/TW/ Note: my zine "Dead Kids Can't Paint" lightly/ abstractly touches on subjects of relationship abuse and fictional murder, and also contains drawn nude characters. My zine "If I come out" confronts topics of homophobia.

Hamilton Six Zines

he/him/his
Brooklyn, NY

adult content, BIPOC-creator, identity (queer/LGBTQIA, POC, feminist, etc.), perzines/memoir, Queer-creator, trades welcome!, zines under $5

Pity for Thyself, the primary Hamilton Six zine series, is a collection of email missives beginning in 2007 when “hamiltonsix”, who had just completed a creative writing MFA and quit his job in San Francisco, rather abruptly decides to take a one month sublease in NYC and put everything in storage and drive across the country from Oakland. Issues will chronicle romantic failures; alienation as a biracial individual in the queer community; the struggles of functioning creatively in an urban environment, the mediocrity of office life; attempts to impregnate a lesbian friend; a compulsion towards cultural consumption; and a heightened sense of existential malaise, longing, and despair. Juxtaposed with those pontifications to friends are the explicitly crude and desperate emails chronicling frenetic acting out through sex addiction. ADULT CONTENT. SENSITIVE CONTENT. Additionally, there are individual zines: “Persona Non Grata” and “Mary Gaitskill”, transcribing two different and somewhat wistful conversations from the Scruff hook-up app, and “Cockblock List 2016” which is a catalog of every cultural event (concert, film, museum exhibit, reading, etc.) attended in a single calendar year which prohibited a single queer bachelor from hooking-up.

Hi! Some zines you can find in my press include: blkmzc: ethnomusicology zines about different aspects of music and dance culture of the african diaspora (issue one: black banjo, issue two: don’t stop, get it get it, or the pan african roots of twerk) a workbook for the end of relationships: a workbook that will hopefully aid people in reflecting on what they learned in different relationships, whether they are breakups from lovers or friends, leaving jobs, leaving behind an aspect of how they've lived or been (like in recover) etc, and move forward in a strengths-based way. white cower!: a zine about the duplicity of white liberals the god within: a philosophical commonplace zine about black queerness throughout the diaspora including anti-colonial/precolonial thinking on queer genders and sexualities the audre lorde harm reduction workbook: a workbook for helping people harness their strengths to reduce any kind of harm in their life including toxic relationships, disordered eating, self doubt, and substance abuse and now my watch begins: staying sober while staying woke (almost 6 years of sobriety my way): a zine about living in the Bay where I got sober and how challenging finding community in the mostly white sobriety spaces out there was. Also talking about how tricky dating is sober, my troubled relationship with AA, the white supremacist use of the word addict and how the war on drugs has affected my communities as a black and queer person, and more and now my watch begins: staying sober while staying woke (almost 7 years of sobriety my way): a zine about moving to brooklyn and exploring the variety of recovery communities available in NYC including refuge, moderation management, AA, heart of recovery, and SMART. Also talking about the use of narcotics by colonial powers to undermine black and indigenous communities and how I've created my own sobriety program that helps me (and how others can, too) SHLEFFED: a perzine about the unctuous dread of tinder and what folks put on their profile that gets that ass swiped left on with the quickness! all the men are black, all the women are white, but some of us are FRESH: a zine inspired by Barbara Smith’s seminal work putting black women, trans, and queer hip hop artists directly in conversation with black feminist theorists (think thee stallion in convo with bell hooks) pocket full of stars: black science fiction writers on their craft and the genre- a zine about mostly queer, women, and trans black scifi writers and how their intersections enrich their craft as well as the barriers that arise because of marginalization a love supreme: meditating while black- a perzine talking about my personal journey as a meditator in 2000's brooklyn, oakland, 2010's brooklyn, and philadelphia, my experience of often being the only black person in these spaces, and the colonization of healing meditation practices and spaces. i'm good! : a thirty day self appreciation journal - pretty much what it sounds like! a tool for people who are working on making self appreciation habitual in my own voice: A DESC assertiveness script practice zine for folks who want to make use of DESC scripts habitual for 60 days Recipes for rest and play: a zine/workbook full of playlists for romance, study, breakups, astral travel, and more (comes with links to actual spotify playlists!) FACTS: about ingredients on labels BRAIDS: about all the incredibly diversity of braid forms, styles, and utilities throughout the African diaspora (Still working on a name): An anthology of poetry, essays, visual art, and crowd sourced data from BIPOC pursuing harm reduction and recovery outside of 12 step models.

This is the first of many zines I intend on writing. I primarily write in the field of erotica and fantasy, but have decided to really wing stuff and write my first zine which includes funny stories from my life, poetry and thoughts and reflections on trans autistic seminary dropout life. I have previously been published in the Anarchist newspaper Slingshot and some other stuff but have never really had the self esteem to go out and write a zine. I am tremendously excited for you all to read about it. Click here to download PDF copies of my zine! Please feel free to donate so I can do physical copies in the future? To get a hold of a copy of my zine, please email me.

he/him
Tampa, Florida

fandom, identity (queer/LGBTQIA, POC, feminist, etc.), mental health, mini-zines, music, Neurodivergent-creator, perzines/memoir, Queer-creator, trades welcome!, zines under $5

I specialize in the raw and heavy side of zinemaking, broaching on topics such as mental illness, trauma, fear, and learning how to recreate, reinvent, and find a way to come out on top in the end. My work touches on the unique perspective I've gained over the years, being a queer alternative person and navigating my way through sticky situations and the twists and turns of life. My goal is to create work that resonates with people much like myself and to broaden the community and bridge the gap between things that may set us apart. My zines are representative of the things most would rather not talk about, but bringing light to them not only serves as a source of catharsis for me, but those who my work reaches as well. Message me anywhere for trades or to buy direct! Click here for my venmo link.

Kansas City, MO

art, comix, kansas city-area zinester

My zines are psychedelic comics about space wizards and crystal witches. The stories range from struggles on alien planets to more poetic and abstract sequences. Urscape #1 is my newest zine, a self-published mini-comic from April 2019. It’s an enigmatic journey through 20 pages of textural, intricate black-and-white drawings. I'm also selling two of my comics that were published by small presses: Tales from the Hyperverse, a 40-page, brightly colored comic that collects short comics I drew from 2009 to 2017; and Vortex, my first graphic novel from 2014.

My zines are mostly photography based as I use taking photos as a tool through which I can experience and understand the world around me. I like documenting things that are unnoticed or taken for granted. I like looking at the everyday through a different perspective that makes it exciting. There are always new things and places to discover around you, even if you think you know your home well. I usually have something written alongside my photography to help my zines tell a story. I have the following zines for sale: Explore Your Own Garden: a zine with a written story and photography focusing on the everyday and banal things around Norwich, UK, where I studied. Beast from the East: a zine with poetry and photos taken in Norwich during the cold wave in 2018. The Study of Toilets: a zine with photos of different public toilets alongside stories people have submitted about things they have experienced while using a public bathroom. Hanami: a zine with photos of cherry blossom trees and surroundings, taken in April 2019 in Nagoya, Japan. The Fight for LGBT Rights in Poland: a zine about prominent LGBT people from Poland, as well as some information about what LGBT people deal with there. Pizza Face: a zine detailing my experience with having acne. Lost in Warsaw: a photography and text based zine about my trip to Warsaw, Poland in 2018. Nothing Has Changed: a photography zine about my visit to my hometown in Poland, where nothing seems to have changed since I moved to England more than 10 years ago. Zines are available digitally/ physically depending on availability!

Hey I'm Ray! I mostly make comics and I have a handful of zines and other merch too. Most of my work is fictional stories, ranging from punk drama to cannibalistic serial killers to essays on why Quentin Quire is gay and Marvel's been writing him wrong all these years. Here's a list of my books/zines and what they're about: Anchored - Short comic about a lobster trapper falls in love with a selkie, and learns what home is. Very gay! I'm also selling the original art pages from this comic. The Ties That Bind - Fancomic of Death Stranding about the importance of friendship. The Collector - Short comic about a serial killer who collects teeth. Creepy! Knives Out - Zine about sensual stabbing and light cannibalism. Also creepy! Quentin Quire Is Gay: And Here's Why - Zine essay about Quentin. Yes he's gay, shut up Marvel you don't know what you're doing. Local Haunts - An anthology about urban legends, featuring a story of mine about some teens who search for a portal to hell.

The other "main zine" I create is "Behind the Zines," a zine about zines. Very meta and self-reflective of the zine community. All of my zines strive to put my personal stories out into the world.

Get Gnar Zines started as a casual mini zine project fueled by boredom. But upon being partially furloughed from my job at a large university I started a weekly zine subscription service in 2020 where I created a variety of zines in both mini and half-size about various things I'm passionate about: mid-century modern design, female musicians, drinking beer in the shower, and chronic illness. My zines use a variety of techniques including hand drawing and collage to create artistically distinct styles that speak about my passions and experiences with humor and wit.

We host workshops, run zine fairs, create educational online content, produce, publish, and distribute our own collaborative zines. What is a zine? A zine is a booklet-style artwork that you make yourself, and give away, swap, or sell for the cost of printing. Zines enable adaptable learning and provide a creative outlet that can be accessed by anyone regardless of experience or skill level. We use our talents to help others to develop their own through the power of collaborative support. We aim to welcome our own community of an open and fluid collective of people of all genders, sexualities, ages, races, abilities, and backgrounds to get involved in Coin-Operated Press. As a company, we strive to be as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. We value intersectional feminist culture and are especially interested in working with the LGBTQ + community and marginalised folks. Allison Morris Lesch

she/her
Saint Louis, MO

art, kid-friendly, mini-zines, music, trades welcome!

I create zines as an extension of my art practice. My zines are often drawing-based and thematic; they explore subjects that are dear to me or play an important role in my life. Regardless of topic, I take pride in making mindfully-designed, well-crafted books that are art pieces in themselves.

Café Crush - A zine about a young lady trying to ask her crush who is a waitress/owner of the Café. - A wounded warrior finds the love of her life after a war only to discover it is a Kelpie. London, UK

fandom, identity (queer/LGBTQIA, POC, feminist, etc.), music, perzines/memoir, poetry/prose/fiction, political/activism, Queer-creator, trades welcome!, zines under $5

The Esther Greenwood School for Girls is about language and our use of it, old and new. It is about our history viewed as inherently queer, a succession of opinions about pop culture viewed through the lens of disidentification. Our curriculum focuses on the contrast of modernity and absurdity, our passion being that of history-as-narrative and the secular retelling of significant events in our school calendar. We are committed to the highest standards of excellence, and, should you chuse to join us within our impressive school grounds in a bubble universe circa 1915, we hope that you will be richly engaged with the manner of stories and irreverent reportage we excel at. Producing a nameless school fanzine according to an erratic schedule, you will find our headmistress suffers from what might be termed "a Jewish work ethic," and is thus incapable of doing anything but writing ceaselessly. It may be said that we overproduce. You may regret this. Please consider booking your place one of our open days and enrolling with us here. The school bell is ringing. If you rush you can still make the bus.

Girls, on Film

Washington, DC area

fandom, free zines, zines under $5

"Girls, on Film" is hopelessly devoted to 80's movies. For each issue, we pick a theme and discuss a handful of 80's movies related to that theme. We cover all kinds of movies -- the good, the bad, and the meh. We've covered 80's movies about music, sports, the summer, food, working, role-reversals, animation, and most recently, robots!! We publish quarterly. All of our zines are available to read, for free, on our website at https://girlsonfilmzine.com/. We are suspending shipment of print copies due to the Coronavirus. We also invite anyone who's as hopelessly devoted to 80's movies as we are to guest write with us. Email info@girlsonfilmzine.com for more info. Thanks, y'all. -- Stephanie and Janene

No Scene Zine

she/her
Louisville, KY + Brooklyn, NY (contributors are in different cities)

first-time zine maker, trades welcome!, zines under $5

Welcome to No Scene, where all art is here. The thought behind No Scene is like reading a giant uncomfortable hug from someone you like but you’re not one of those hugging people, so it’s always just really awkward and you feel guilty that it’s awkward. At No Scene we try our best to remove narrow labels and just plop out what’s in our head to the pages. It could be about cats and their jobs in society, it could be an op-ed about why Nutella is overrated, or maybe we just had an idea that tickled us about a fake company running an ad (see classifieds). Whatever it is, we want to create a place where satirical, silly or sometimes serious ideas can grow. And maybe we connect with another person out there who really likes doing 1,000 piece puzzles while listening to German Goth music. That’s really the ultimate goal - connecting with people who find human interactions difficult and frustrating. We're in this boat with you.
