Hi, I'm Cecil G, an independent cartoonist from way out west! I primarily specialize in comics, and I'm constantly trying to find new ways for the things I want to say. My stories involve love, zombies, fairy tales, lesbianism, and feelings from the heart. I make comics for a wide age range, and I want to maximize the different kinds of stories I make and how I decide to tell them.

I love to make radical, bright, colorful and funny work about my life, the sensations through which I perceive it and those in it. I consider myself a writer, designer and artist, but zines let me embrace the messier sides of my crafts, and spend more time being present with process. This would be my first fair, fresh grad trying with Oddities to print a 50 run of my first full 32 pg poetry riso for sale, but I make lots of minis in my spare time that I usually distribute for free.

Vertigo Underground

she/her
Kansas City, MO

AAPI-creator, art, BIPOC-creator, first-time zine maker, kansas city-area zinester, Queer-creator

Welcome to Vertigo Underground, where up is down and there are no rules. My zines are an extension of my art practice, which I could best describe as if Tim Burton tried to cram "Alice in Wonderland" and "Beetlejuice" into one movie...on a much smaller budget. I focus mainly on art zines. Some are a small series of prints - like sea creatures living in vending machines. I also love making coloring books - because art block happens and sometimes you just need the linework done for you.

i do a lot of comics! most of my work tends to have a lot of themes and imagery relating to surreal horror. they can also be identified pretty easily by their heavy ink work and generous use of hatching to assemble wispy, patchy drawings. most of the comics i've made are body-horror oriented that deal with themes of identity and dissociation. i also like to make mini zines of miscellaneous works and doodles that i've done.

The comics focus on curiosity and adventure through traveling or misfit characters. They often take place in fantasy worlds filled with heroes, monsters, and adventure. I also work with my partner to create more grounded zines about topics such as body positivity & composting.
